My Story

bth8 My name is Claire and I have a always enjoyed baking ever since I was a child but it wasn’t until I had children of my own that I really took a keen interest not just in cake making but in cake decorating too.

The very first cake I attempted to decorate was back in 2006 which was novelty cake in the shape of a pumpkin complete with mice.  I had taken the idea from a cake decorating book and for years I had always wanted to attempt it but never had the courage.  So what better time to try then on my own daughter’s birthday.  What I thought was going to be a huge challenge  actually turned out to be a relatively pain-free and stress-free result.  I was delighted with my first attempt at cake decorating and it was that cake that led me onto wanting to learn more and more.

I attended a two year City & Guilds course in sugar decoration and sugar flowers which included using a variety of mediums such as royal icing, sugarpaste, marzipan, chocolate and modelling paste and learning techniques including brush embroidery, bass relief, run-outs, and sugar flowers amongst many others.  I enjoyed every aspect of the course, and came out with a great qualification which ignited my passion for all things sugar.

Although I am relatively new to the world of cake decorating, I believe I have practised and perfected a combination of skills that have allowed me to produce the variety of cakes I have created to date.  I am always up for a challenge and rest assured I would never send out a cake that I was not 100% happy with.
